Accessibility is our business, so we hold this website to a higher standard than the one our clients are required to meet. If anything here doesn't work for you, please tell us.

Our target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA

WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, is the international standard for making web content usable by people with disabilities. The ADA Title II rule requires state and local governments to meet version 2.1 at Level AA. This site aims for version 2.2 at Level AA, which adds requirements such as larger touch targets and focus indicators that are never hidden.

How this site is built

  • Every page works fully without JavaScript.
  • Clear headings, landmarks and a "Skip to main content" link on every page.
  • A strong, visible focus outline on every link, button and form field.
  • Color contrast checked in both light and dark mode.
  • Pages reflow on small screens and at 400% zoom without sideways scrolling.
  • No cookies, trackers, pop-ups, carousels or overlay widgets.

How we test

  • Automated testing with axe on every page, every time the site is built. The site doesn't publish if a test fails.
  • Google Lighthouse accessibility audits on every page.
  • Hands-on testing with a keyboard alone.
  • Screen reader testing with VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone.
  • Checks at 200% and 400% zoom, and in dark mode.
